Located right in the center of Catalonia, Vic represents the spirit of Catalan rural life. The central square of Vic is one of the most famous symbols of the Catalan imaginary, while the Vic Cathedral is placed at the first positions of the most important medieval sights in Catalonia. A Roman temple, modernist buildings, a renowned music festival, a good traditional religious festival and probably the most famous Catalan dry-meat pieces are other things Vic can offer to you. And there are many more.

The best time to visit Vic is on a Saturday as its main square and adjacents streets and small alleys are full of stalls selling all kind of goods and food products -as seen in the video.

Vic, and its comarca (county) of Osona, are famous for its sausages and other pork derivatives, especially fuet, a thin cured sausage. The making of cured sausages and cold meats stems from the long tradition of pig farming in the Vic plain. The quality of the best lean pork, careful manufacture and the climatic conditions of Osona, which hugely influence its curing, give the Vic fuet sausage its unmistakable aroma and flavour which has won international fame. To make it, meat and bacon from top-quality white pigs is used together with white and black pepper and salt, all macerated for at least 48 hours and packed in natural skins. The nearby Montseny mountains, which generate a gentle but continuous breeze and cause a great deal of mist, influence the curing of the pieces for 45 days, during which they acquire the sensory qualities that have made them so highly prized. The mixture is perfectly bound together and is very aromatic and tasty. They are presented in candle shapes, 7-8cm (3in.)in diameter and between 50 and 60cm long (20-23in.). Around the main square in the centre of Vic there are quite a few specialized shops selling these sausages.
