The cellar and oil mill of the Sindicat de Cooperació Agrària de Gandesa (Gandesa Agricultural Cooperative Union) was built between 1919 and 1920. Cèsar Martinell planned and directed the works. However, at first glance it would be difficult to attribute this winery to the Valls architect; While the building incorporated all the technical innovations and the division of spaces characteristic of Martinell’s work, “it is also one of the most unique and interesting examples of his agricultural work”. This old winery is also know in Catalonia as one of the Wine Cathedrals.
