FashionTV had a front-row seat at the Enjoy 080 Barcelona Fashion Week show. In its 12th year, the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week Show opened on July 8th with Vice President of Catalonia, Joana Ortega, making the inaugural address. Catalan firm Mango kicked opened the catwalk followed by more than 30 designers. Shown here are the collections from Zazo&Brull and Juan Pedro Lopez. Afterwards, models, designers and guests enjoyed drinks at the Elite Model Look Espana Cocktail.

Fashion industry in Catalonia, and in general in Spain, is big business. The fashion world here involves various sectors and professions, including designers and models with a high profile both inside and outside the country. The textile and footwear industries also play a major role.

Good design is the cornerstone of the Catalan and Spanish fashion industries, and this aspect has become increasingly important outside the country in recent years thanks both to the work of creators such as Jesús del Pozo, Adolfo Domínguez, Roberto Verino, Hannibal Laguna, Paco Rabanne and Pedro del Hierro among others, and to the growing presence of local models on the international catwalks. One of the showcases par excellence is the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week. The fashion world is closely linked to two economic sectors of great importance to Catalonia, namely the textile and footwear sectors. In recent decades both these industries have undergone a major transformation and restructuring process which has led to increased turnover and a greater presence in both national and international markets. As a result, the local fashion sector today enjoys excellent health and recognised prestige all over the world.

These links display the latest trends on five of the major local players: three of them are headquartered in Catalonia (Custo Barcelona, Desigual and Mango, the first two in Barcelona), one in Galicia (Zara) and one in Madrid (El Corte Inglés)
