Codorníu (Catalan pronunciation: [ko-door-nee-oo]) is the world’s largest producer of bottle-fermented sparkling wine, known as cava, made by the traditional champagne method (méthode traditionelle). It was founded in Catalonia in 1551 and produces 60 million bottles annually.
At their head office -featured in the video- in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, in the Penedès region south west of Barcelona, Codorníu offers a 90′ guided tours of the cellars, buildings and gardens ending with wine tasting. Several languages are available: Catalan, Spanish, English, French and German. Price (2013): € 8/£ 6.70/$ 11. The 2h special visit (prior booking required) includes a wine tasting and a light lunch. Available for groups of at least five people. Price (2013): € 15 to 50/£ 13 to 42 / $20 to 70 per person.
