The Museu Frederic Marès is a unique collector’s museum located in the center of the city, in the Plaça de Sant Iu, in a series of rooms of the old Royal Palace. It houses the collection donated to the city by sculptor Frederic Marès Deulovol. The sculpture collection is divided into six areas: Antiquity, Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and 19th Century. Among the main works highlights a Romanesque relief from the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes that represents the appearance of Jesus to his disciples, attributed to the Master Cabestany. The sculpture section complements other collections: paint, fabric and clothing, jewelry and furniture.
Tip: this attraction is located in the Barri Gòtic area where there are many attractions and museums so it might be worth to plan a combined visit.
